In Celebration of Nas’s iconic 1994 debut album, Illmatic, the Queensbridge rapper is set to release Time Is Illmatic, a feature lengh documentary film, on October 1.
Announced earlier this year, Time Is Illmatic, directed by One9, delves deep into the making of Nas’ debut album, the social conditions that influenced its creation, the musical legacy that was handed down to Nas from his jazz musician father and the support he received from his Queensbridge neighborhood crew to create the greatest work of music from hip-hop’s second golden era.
The documentary premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival in April this year and will open on October 1 via Tribeca Film. It’s not clear at this time if the release date is US-only or worldwide.
